Why You’ll Love This Jeera Rice

- Minimal ingredients and fuss
Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice (soaked for 15–20 minutes)
- 1–2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- Salt, to taste
- 1 ½ cups water (adjust as needed)
How to Make Easy Jeera Rice
- Turn on the cooker or stovetop pan and melt the butter.
- Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until aromatic.

- Add salt to taste and pour water until it covers the rice. Stir once.
- Close the lid and cook on low heat until the rice is soft and fluffy.
- Once done, gently fluff the rice with a fork.
Serving Suggestions
Serve hot with any curry, dal, or vegetable stir-fry. This jeera rice also works as a simple base for fried rice or other one-pan meals.
NotAChef Tips
- Soaking the rice beforehand ensures soft, separate grains.
- Don’t over-stir once the water is added—this keeps the rice fluffy.
- Add a little extra butter or ghee for richer flavour if desired.
